We are often asked "How did you know about xxx".

The city has various methods to keep in contact with citizens. We've listed some common and easy methods below.

TV & Radio
It may sound old fashioned, but things like snow emergency notices are repeated on local TV stations. If foul weather is coming, tune in your local station, or use their phone app. They will often broadcast city emergencies (like snow), and parking restrictions
City of Boston web site
The city's web site has been revamped, and contains a lot of information and has a good search capability.

Custom alerts
You can sign up to get an email, and/or a text message, and/or a phone call, when Boston has important emergency announcements.

Get the app - a list of applications from the city. The handiest are:
  • 3-1-1 app, which lets you submit problems via your phone, and the
  • Trash Day app, which can send you a notification when it is trash day (and when trash collection has been delayed
