Announcements:

*     Stoop party Friday, June 13th on Waltham Street #Õs 84, 88, 89, 91, and 92

o      Follow the balloons to the host stoops

o      Rain day: Saturday June 14th, look to http://eightstreets.blogspot.com/2014/06/june-business-meeting.html by 5pm on the 13th for confirmation if the weather looks questionable

*     June 14th Pride parade, look to City of Boston website for street closings

o      parade leaving Copley at 11am this year!

*     As of July 1st, 2014 the new trash contractor for Boston is a company called Sunshine

o      Recycling now on both days, twice per week

o      South End pick up at 7am, they are now discouraging the use of small blue recycling bins

o      Public alleyways are still covered in this new trash contract

*     Homes will be flyered by City to announce the trash changes formally

South End garden tour: a self guided tour of private and community gardens in the historic South End of Boston

Saturday, June 21st, 2014 - 10am to 4pm, rain or shine

*     Tickets $25 day of tour; $20 in advance

*     Children under 12 free

*     Tour starts at the South End Branch of the Boston Public Library at Rutland Square and Tremont Street, Boston

*     Tour path: West Newton to Mass Ave, from Corridor to Tremont

*     Post tour reception at City Year Headquarters, 287 Columbus Avenue, Boston

*     Special new component this year: each garden will have an artist creating art from the garden, these will be made available for sale at the reception

*     30 garden sites on the tour

*     Tour takes about two hours

House Tour

*     Fall, third Sat in October

*     Fundraiser for historical society

*     5 to 6 town houses this year

*     $25 in advance, $30 on the tour

This yearÕs tour will be Saturday, October 18th, 2014. All proceeds from the House Tour are used to support the Historical SocietyÕs ongoing efforts to preserve the neighborhoodÕs architectural integrity and to promote its rich social history
