Eight Streets Neighborhood Association April Meeting Minutes. Meeting was held at the Leland Centre on April 7th at the Leland Center. The first order of business was a presentation by M.D. Properties. M.D. Properties have gotten approval for the development of Parcen RC6 and as a courtesy to ESNA presented the final plans. There weren't any substantial changes and the presentation was well received. There was a preliminary meeting to "clear the air" and hopefully our communications will be better in the future. The project will hopefully break ground this Summer and they are looking at a 7-8 month construction period. The developers have promised to come back to us periodically to keep us informed of their progress. They will also meet with us before construction starts to try and mitigate any concerns we have about the various elements of living around a construction site! One suggestion was made regarding the placing of dumsters (it was hoped they could keep them on their property and not utilize a parking space. We also had a presention from the Drucker team re Parcel 8. This was a courtesy presentation to hear any questions or concerns we had re their project They reminded us that we have until May10th to make any recommendations regarding the development. They are projected to begin construction at the end of the year and it would take approximately 2 years. They also mentioned that we can let them know if we have any strong feelings regarding the retail space not already alloted. Traffic was a big part of the discussion and the concensus seems to be that Berkeley is the most affected. It is hoped that Berkeley can handle the added volume because of the Police Station move. Both Will Woodruff and Jonathan Warshaw were anxious for any suggestions and comments the neighborhod has. In general we were all pleased with their effect to keep us informed and desire to incorporate the concerns of the neighbors. The slate for Officers was accepted - Anne Cole has agreed to be nominated as Secretary. The slate is: Ken Hirschkind - President, Claudia Swan - Vice President, Peter Chin - Treasurer and Anne Cole - Secretary. The elections will be held at the May meeting. The Clean-Up was discussed - at that time we didn't know the date - but we now know it's South End wide and on Saturday May 1st. It was also suggested we organize some sort of social activity for the late Spring/Summer - perhaps at Ringgold Park? Two people asked to have their names submitted to the South End Landmark District - Ralph Rivera and Patricia Corcoran.
